The MLM-Network Marketing Industry (home based business) has produced some of the most amazing “Rags to Riches” stories across the globe. Ordinary people went from poor or modest to earning more money in a month from a home based business than most people earn in a year. Although, each person has their own unique story to tell, there are similarities in the traits of people that are successful in a Work at Home Business, MLM, or Network Marketing.
The Network Marketing (Work from Home) Industry is perfect for everyone, but not everyone is perfect for Network Marketing. Do you possess what it takes to be successful in a home based business opportunity? If you are the type of person who needs someone looking over your shoulder constantly, then working from home is not for you. If you have a burning desire to change your current situation, you are willing to learn, you are motivated and you can duplicate, then jump on board with home based business opportunities for the ride of your life.
Nuts & Bolts:
1) The ability to get the ego out of the way.
Although most successful Network Marketers seem strong-willed leaders. They also possess the ability to duplicate. Ever heard of the term “Don’t re-invent the wheel? A huge factor in the business is the ability to follow the direction, systems and strategies of your sponsor.
2) Be willing to do things differently.
A huge factor in building a strong team is the empowerment of others. This is not a cut-throat business. It only benefits you more to help your team succeed. In each and every person on your team, find their innate talents, abilities and qualities and nurture them as they unfold.
3) The ability to stay strong and not quit in the midst of peer pressure and any challenges that may come along.
Have you ever had a great idea or started something new (even a new J.O.B.), you tell a friend or family member and they just knock you down with criticism? We have surrounded ourselves with people who give us permission to stay the same. Why would we do that? Why would we limit ourselves and let someone else spoil our dreams, just because they do not believe? Most of us do not like change, but change is REALLY good. You will have to get “out of the box” and your friends and family may not like that. Are you willing to chance that? Is your desire strong enough? The truth of the matter is, that it really does not matter what anyone else thinks. It only matters what you think and believe. You have to learn to ‘tune’ those ‘Naysayers’ out, even if it’s your spouse. What are you willing to do? You may have to change your center of influence, surround yourself with like-minded people.
4) Integrity First:
In businesses of pushy sales people, over-bearing bosses and employees who are taught to lie that the boss is not in, we have learned to conduct business without integrity. In Network Marketing your relationship with your team is based on trust. Even the smallest “white lie” can compromise the integrity your team has for you. When you sponsor someone, you are their mentor, even when they reach a higher level in the business, they will still look to you as their guiding light. Be truthful. People are tired of the back-stabbing, gossip and lies of the corporate world.
5) The ability to teach:
Only about 10 percent of any group is the sales type. If you are teaching people to knock on doors, cold call or approach strangers, then you will scare off 90 percent of your prospects. A successful Network Marketer’s number on priority is making sure their team knows what to do, from step one on. They will concentrate on teaching a duplicatable system, by first becoming your own best customer. It is not recommended to try to sponsor your customers into your business, unless they approach you for more information. Why? This goes back to the fact that 90 percent of people are not sales-types. Most will buy from you, but not join you in a business.
6) Be willing to continue to learn.
Setting aside a little time each day to expand your knowledge base is very important. Whether you are reading a book, listening to cds, watching videos or attending a seminar, self-development and expanding your thinking is a very important aspect in your business. This can not be stressed enough. Success comes with changing yourself first. You will attract people in your business that are on the same thinking level as you, so why not expand your confidence and knowledge and attract those types of people. Ever heard the saying “You are what you think”? In order to help someone else change, you must first change. Having an ongoing self-development program in your business is highly recommended. Assign a book for your team to read, one chapter a week, then schedule a call or have everyone submit via email what that weeks chapter means to them. Hold them accountable. You will know if they read the chapter or not, because you will be reading it to.
7) Have a sincere desire to help others.
In Network Marketing you do not get ahead by “beating-out” or holding others down. You get ahead by helping, mentoring and shaping the beliefs of others. The more people you help to become successful, the more successful you will be. The cut-throat rules of the corporate world do not apply here. There is no limit of people who can reach the top of your compensation plan.
Now that you know the Nuts & Bolts or the needed Qualities, and you already possess all or part and are willing to learn, then Network Marketing can a great means of building ongoing wealth and new and lasting friendships with like-minded people. You will attract people in your businesses that are on the same level as you.
With any business venture, it takes time to see a steady flow of income. Your expectations shouldn’t be to get rich overnight, because that usually does not happen, unless you win the lottery. Climbing up the corporate ladder takes many years, building your own Network Marketing business takes time, a positive (I can do it, no matter what) attitude and persistence, but not as long as a promotion in the corporate world would take. With whatever you do be persistently, persistent and duplicate, don’t re-invent.
